Will There Be a Playstation 5?

What is it that Nature sees?
All that passes by canal banks and trees.

Cyclist 1: “Scotland shirt” or:
“Scotland Shirt. Blotchy face.”
Cumbersome, he has graced
The canal trail – and new nature.

Cyclist 2: “Pudgy child” or:
“Doughball who lags behind.”
Nature has not been unkind.
Father has, and now makes amends.

Father and son.
Yet father unlike son.
How unalike are father and son!

Nature, discerning in her graces,
Would never bless the doughball.
Speckle free, stretchy skin, supple joints, freckles three (on nose)
Dimples wee – yes! – but who also shows
Nothing of father’s red nose, mass, and aching frame.
Nothing of coming plukes, acne scars and bumfluff beards.
Nothing of wheezing, cholesterol, knackered lungs, liver bother,
Of ultimate dialysis!
Nature, discerning in her graces,
Would never bless the doughball.

But what a special dispensation Nature grants
To “Scotland shirt. Blotchy face.”
And, in her ultimate grace,
Blesses the beer gut of the older man.

No such dispensation
For Doughball’s generation.
